System and Method for Inspecting a Metal Object

Published · Intellectual property

An inspection system combining multi-angle 3D imaging and thermal analysis of metal objects.

The proposed device uses articulated arms to scan a metal object from several angles, combining 3D imaging with thermal analysis. Electromagnets hold the object in place during inspection.

The system brings these observations together into defect reports, linking the scan mechanism with the analysis of the object under inspection.

The interesting engineering link is between geometry and temperature: the proposal combines different observations of the same object. Sensor calibration and aligning those observations would matter in an implementation; no defect-detection threshold or measured accuracy is asserted here.

Application 202441050014 is listed as published in VIT Chennai’s patent records, under publication number 202441050014 A.
